India admits Pakistan’s cyber attacks targeting govt websites

Yashasvi Yadav, Additional Director General of Police, stated that the cyberattacks originated from Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Middle East, and an Indonesian group.

“The investigation revealed that while cyber-attacks on Indian government websites decreased after the India-Pakistan ceasefire, they have not completely stopped. These attacks have been traced back to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Morocco, and Middle Eastern countries,” Yadav said.

He added that thanks to technical capabilities and rapid response, critical infrastructure was safeguarded and attacks were thwarted.

The report further highlighted that in the context of hybrid warfare, Pakistan’s allied groups conducted widespread misinformation campaigns.

Among the 150 successful hacking attempts, the report noted that the Kulgaon Badlapur Municipal Council website was defaced, and data was stolen from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and several telecom companies.

It was also reported that some Indian citizens’ data was found on the dark web.
